You would think that was a good deal. Not. You would still have to fork over $500.00 to get an equivalent model. Mind you that this product only produced less then 2000 scans and a quick look around the web seems to substantiate this for some other of their products.
My advice; stay the hell away from them. Buy their products at your own peril.

Yes, I can confirm, MICROTEK SUCKS.
After one year, my 9800XL started making blurry scans. Microtek's solution was for me to buy another scanner from them.
Now I have upgraded to Leopard and am looking for a new driver, but Microtek's website never works! They are unavailable. I called the number posted by Rigglord above, and they don't even mention their corporate name when you call "tech support".
Microtek seems to be about ready to leave town in the middle of the night. Maybe they don't really even exist.
I can confirm that as well. I had the same problem with the 9800XL did a hundred scans or so then just dies. We spent almost 4K on that paperweight.
They should be run out of town for the way they do business.
